Most likely we all know that stress is a killer, especially in those situations when the deadlines are nearing and we find we still haven’t completed the task at hand. Whatever the reason it appears for, stress diminishes productivity, while also taking a toll on our health. This is why experts recommend a few simple guidelines that we have to bear in mind when dealing with it.

Eat breakfast, research shows that skipping breakfast may cause you to eat more later in the day. If you’re famished by the time lunch rolls around, you’re likely to overindulge, which isn’t just detrimental to your diet, but your stress levels as well. Putting too much glucose (blood sugar) in your system at one time adds stress to your body. Plus, any glucose that isn’t used is stored as fat and carrying around extra pounds is a strain. By eating breakfast every day, you stay healthy, but also in top shape.

Stretch it out, even if you’re stuck in an epic meeting or tied to the phone with constant conference calls, you can still move your body. Hunching over a computer all day can take its toll, so do some stretches to release muscle tension. Reach forward to stretch your upper back and shoulder. To relieve tension from your neck, lift each ear away from the shoulders. Cross one foot over the opposite knee and lean forward slightly to stretch your hip and butt muscles.

Obviously, it’s not just stretching that is highly recommended, as any type of movement is encouraged. For instance, if you have something to tell a colleague from a different department, forget the email and just walk to where he or she is working to tell it in person. Don’t take the elevator to your floor, take the stairs, use your lunch break to include a walk as well, and so on and so forth. Of course, while we’re on the topic of things to change, we should also reduce caffeine and nicotine intake to reduce stress.

Well, hubby gave in and buys me one of that last July. I have to say, it’s indeed a fun way to exercise. Even if I’m alone doing it, I’m still having fun and it doesn’t bore me. I guess it’s because it’s in a video game format where I’m challenged and exercising at the same time. It’s a much better way to spend my time as compared to sitting in front of my computer playing online games. With it, I’m not only mentally stimulated, I’m also doing physical activity.

Basically, Zumba Fitness is the first and only Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that has taken the world by storm. It features nine different dance styles, such as salsa, hip-hop, and mambo and uses the included Zumba Fitness belt to create a real-time gaming experience. The belt wraps around the waist allowing the motion controller to move with the motion of your hips where the movement originates from. Learning the Zumba moves and techniques is simple with the help of Zumba instructors Tanya, Gina, and Zumba’s creator Beto.

“We are warning consumers about the use of skin peelers because they can cause serious injuries, particularly when not used under the supervision of a physician,” said Commissioner David A. Kessler, M.D.

The FDA issued the warning after it received reports of several injuries caused by chemical skin peeling products. The products in question contain ingredients that are supposed to remove wrinkles, blemishes, blotches and acne scars, usually claiming that they restore youthful-looking skin. But the FDA says they may penetrate the skin too deeply, causing severe skin damage. In several cases, persons have been hospitalized for severe burns, swelling and pain.

Harsh chemical peeling products contain different ingredients and their strengths vary, as may each person’s reactions to the chemicals used. Peeling products usually contain different acids such as resorcinol, phenol, lactic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid and other alpha hydroxy acids. These are generally applied to the skin for a brief time each day, for 6 to 12 days. The skin initially reddens, like sunburn, then darkens and finally peels away, revealing what manufacturers claim will be “new skin.” But treatments may be painful and leave permanent scars.

Chemical peels used to be performed only by plastic surgeons and dermatologists. However, they are now administered by a variety of non-medical professionals such as cosmetologists and beauticians, some using newly marketed preparations. Some of the products can even be purchased by mail. Many have inadequate instructions; none have been approved by FDA as being safe and effective.

In the course of conducting its investigation, the FDA will review all products marketed with skin peeling claims. Dr. Kessler said FDA is working with state attorneys general who are also taking measures to stop the sale and use of hazardous skin peeling products.

In a warning letter sent to one manufacturer, the FDA said that it considers their product to be a new drug that cannot be legally marketed without FDA approval, and that the product is misbranded and presents a significant health hazard.

Other over-the-counter products designed to renew and rejuvenate are not affected by this announcement. Learn to read the labels on the products you use and choose those that are non-toxic and safe. For more information, see our article on Skin Care Product Labels – Natural vs. Toxic Chemicals.

Like what is said, high blood pressure is a silent killer and most people do not often notice it until the blood pressure is measured. It’s the same thing that happens to her. Good thing she decided to see a doctor after battling with the symptoms the whole day, the situation could have been worse if she did not.

But, with those entire tests done, the doctors also found she has thyroid imbalance. Based on what hubby describes she has hyperthyroidism, which is much less common than hypothyroidism. With regard to this, she really needs to consult a thyroid doctor Austin. Her thyroid problems need to be address properly with a treatment plan based on her specific symptoms and test results. It’s the way to resolve her symptoms of thyroid imbalance.

It’s sad to hear she has to attend to a lot of conditions. But, she really needs to take good care of her health because she has two little boys who really need her by their side.

If you have either gingivitis or periodontitis, there are several effective treatments. These treatments involve deep cleaning to remove plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line. This is called SRP, which stands for “Scaling and Root Planning.” Scaling and Root Planning, or SRP, is a non-invasive procedure. The degree of cleaning, and the amount of time the procedure takes, depends on the degree of disease in the individual patient.

There are also prescription drugs available. The most popular is called Periostat, and has been used effectually since 1998. Periostat – which is a pill – suppresses an enzyme (called collagenase), which contributes to the destruction of the teeth and gums. Often, Periostat is taken in conjunction with an SRP procedure.

Of course, the best treatment against gum disease is to never have it in the first place. That’s why dentists focus on prevention as much as possible. Your dentist can give you a personalized dental health plan to follow. Typically, this includes regular brushing and flossing, as well as the use of special mouthwashes.

Gum disease isn’t pleasant, but it can be prevented and treated. The key is having regular check-ups, so you and your dentist can get a jump on any potential problems before they develop into something more serious.

So if you find “a little pink in the sink,” it’s time to schedule a check-up. Left untreated, gum disease can lead to more severe problems, including tooth-loss. The treatments are simple and effective, however. In fact, the most common reason why gum disease worsens is because the patient simply neglects to visit a dentist. Don’t let embarrassment, laziness or fear prevent you from getting the treatment you deserve.

The tuber is a low calorie food high in vitamin C, vitamin B and beneficial iron. But it’s not just the meat of the potato; potato skins are high in fiber and other vital nutrients. Potatoes are low in calories, fat-free and cholesterol-free. A medium-sized potato contains only 100 calories per serving. Potatoes also are low in carbohydrates, weighing in at about 26 grams or 9 percent of the daily allowance. Tubers are a low sodium, low sugar food. A low calorie, nutritious diet is the foundation of any weight loss program. Diets low in sodium can help reduce the risk of stroke and high blood pressure.

Potato skins offer 2 grams of fiber per serving, about 8 percent of the recommended daily allowance. Potatoes contain as much fiber as foods like whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread and other fiber-rich whole grain products. Eating fiber helps lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Fiber also helps lower cholesterol, control blood sugar levels and create a feeling of fullness, which aids weight loss. The naturally occurring substance found in legumes, whole grains, vegetables and fruits can relieve or prevent constipation by promoting the movement of materials through your digestive tract.

One whole potato with skin contains 45 percent of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C. The skin itself contains about 9 percent of the recommended daily allowance. Vitamin C helps to heal wounds and is high in cancer-fighting antioxidants. The vitamin also helps boost your immune system, allowing you to fight off disease.

Potatoes with skin are rich in B vitamins. Vitamin B helps to synthesize muscle-building amino acids and healthy red blood cells. A single serving of potato skins offers 6 percent of the daily allowance of iron. Iron aids in oxygenating blood cells, improves muscle and brain function and prevents the onset of anemia.

It is vitally important to keep your skin clean. The way and the products you use to wash your face are also important.

Wash your face GENTLY at least twice a day and after any strenuous exercise that has caused perspiration. Do not SCRUB your face or skin. This actually can cause more harm than good and can even inflame your pimples.

Use a very mild soap like Neutrogena. Do not use anything that makes your skin feel overly dry. It is not necessary to use an astringent, yet if you do, only use it where your skin is very oily. If you visit a dermatologist, he/she should be able to recommend the best soap for your particular acne symptoms.

Do not excessively handle your skin. Your hands have bacteria on them and can cause the acne to get even worse. In other words, DO NOT pick at your pimples. I know that it is very hard not to do, yet it is very good advice. Only a doctor, with special instruments can effectively “pick” at pimples in a way that will not cause more inflammation and excessive scarring.

Use a special sunscreen that is at least spf15 and is non-comedogenic, non-oily, which means it does not clog pores. A good sunscreen for acne sufferers is Neutrogena SPF 45 Sunblock with Parsol 1789. You should always try to avoid tanning and sunburn because both could cause acne pimples and acne scars to become even more noticeable.

Shaving with acne can be tricky. It may be wise to invest in a good electric razor. Alternatively, if you use a safety razor, make sure you use a good shaving cream that really softens the hair follicles and skin. Try not to nick the acne pimples.

If you choose to use base makeup, it is recommended you choose a makeup that is oil free (and again) non-comedogenic. There are acne cover-ups that are available that also have acne medication. One product that is my favorite is Clinique’s acne cover-up. It can cover up even the worst outbreaks.

Taking these few extra steps with acne skin care can make a world of difference in your flare-ups.

Reality though, you should be guided by your doctor. Most patients are advised only to resume work until they feel up to it. It’s not uncommon for people to resume normal activities a day after surgery.

After Lasik eye surgery, life can become very different and quite often, considerably better. Lasik eye surgery is a type of refractive surgery, which is a procedure that corrects vision. Lasik surgery is, in fact, the most commonly performed surgical procedure for the eye and the name is actually short for “laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis”.

Laser treatment is a short procedure. Depending on the level of surgery, the procedure can take anywhere between 20 to 50 seconds. Most people do not feel any pain at all during the procedure as drops of anesthesia are administered directly to the eye prior to the surgical procedure. The recovery phase is a short one and patients can normally expect to be heading home within a half hour of surgery. Improved sight can be expected within 3 to 5 days after lasik eye surgery.

The question is often asked…”Can I have both my eyes worked on?” Some patients elect to have both eyes worked on. Surgeons will take a short break after working on the first eye before attending to the second. Some patients however, will elect to stretch their lasik eye surgery over two visits.

As with any type of surgery, major or minor, it’s advisable to follow the doctor’s instructions. The success of any lasik eye surgery treatment, apart from the surgeon’s skill in administering the procedure, depends on a patient’s level of rest and consumption of any necessary prescriptions. While patients can generally head home just half an hour after surgery, it is advised to have someone else do the driving.

Doing this will improve your core strength, which is important for spine stability and daily functional movement. The main muscles to zero in on are the rectus abdominis, obliques and erector spinae. The rectus abdominis is in the center of the stomach, the obliques are on the sides and the erector spinae sits in the lower back. Incorporate body-weight and fitness gear into your workouts to obtain your goal.

Then there are people, who are born with nose defects causing constricted breathing troubles lifelong or the people who have damaged their noses in accidents. Rhinoplasty as a branch of plastic surgery was developed as a corrective surgery to help people get rid of all these flaws, either created naturally or artificially in the latter course of life.

However, in recent years, rhynoplasty has earned more popularity as a cosmetic procedure; that is to say, rhynoplasty is increasingly being viewed as the means for bringing aesthetic changes in the face.

Despite its popularity, rhynoplasty remains one of the most complicated branches of cosmetic surgery. However, despite being a difficult operation, this nose reshaping surgery is performed on hundreds of thousands of patients each year. The difficulty lies in the fact that the plastic surgeon has to perform the entire surgery mainly by feeling it by their hands.

Irrespective of the objective of the surgery – reduction or enhancement in the nose size, hiding the scars or improvement of the breathing process – rhinoplasty is generally performed in a doctor’s clinic on an outpatient basis. The choice between the applications of local or general anesthesia depends on the patient’s overall health. The rhinoplasty techniques can be divided into two main groups: closed and open.
