Farewell of a Little Boy

Farewell of a Little BoyShe jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. She said: ‘How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?’

The surgeon said, ‘I’m sorry…. We did all we could, but your boy didn’t make it.’ Sally said, ‘Why do little children get cancer? Doesn’t God care anymore? Where were you, God, when my son needed you?’
The surgeon asked, ‘Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes, before he’s transported to the university.’

Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said good bye to son. She ran her fingers lovingly through his thick red curly hair. ‘Would you like a lock of his hair?’ the nurse asked. Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of the boy’s hair, put it in a plastic bag and handed it to Sally.

The mother said, ‘It was Jimmy’s idea to donate his body to the University for Study. He said it might help somebody else.. ‘I said no at first, but Jimmy said, ‘ Mom, I won’t be using it after I die. Maybe it will help some other little boy spend one more day with his Mom.’ She went on, ‘My Jimmy had a heart of gold. Always thinking of someone else, always wanting to help others if he could.’

realizing the painful truth

LifeStyle, thoughts and ideas No Comments »

realizing the painful truthIt hurts when you realize that one of your friends is trying to avoid you. That painful thing happens to me. One of my closest friends or my best friend back in high school and college already went to the US to work as a nurse or nursing aid. I tried to contact her by sending her emails, but I received no reply. Of course, I understand that she might be very busy with her life and schedule. However, yesterday I received her email stating that she is selling Victoria secret perfumes. I tried to ask if she is in town and how she’s been doing and so many things. I am really excited to hear any news from her. I even asked if there is any possibility of meeting.

After a few hours, I received a reply. It only composed of at least 10 words saying she’s not in town period. I sense she’s not that excited to talk to me. This doesn’t happen once or twice, but many times. I tried to think of anything that I might cause her to act that way. But, I can’t remember any misunderstanding or argument between us. She just started to avoid me when she moved to the US. I don’t know what she’s thinking. But, I decided to just let her go. It hurts, but I think it is the best way.

For now, I will not wait for any emails from her. I will just continue to surf the net and check the electronic cigarette for my female smoker friend. I never expect that those who don’t show too much affection and just stay silent will remain to be in your side for a long time. She’s too different than I am, but we get along too well.

living in a tropical country

living in a tropical countryIn some way, I can say it is still a blessing that we live in a tropical country. We can use our clothes the whole year because we only have two seasons the rainy and the summer season. That means we are not required to wear thick winter coats.

During the nights we have the option to turn on the air-conditioning unit or just open the windows to let the fresh air in. Some people don’t even wear clothes to comfortably sleep and cut electric cost. Of course, for those people in the area with winter needs electric blanket or very thick blanket to combat the freezing temperature.

Actually I feel a bit silly because we do have thick comforter despite the fact we live in a tropical country. We love to turn the cooling system to its maximum temperature during the night. Yet, we feel too cold after a few hours and we scramble inside the comforter. Hehehe! But, for now we learned to sleep by just opening the window. It really saves a lot of our electric consumption. Good thing, December months provide cool night breeze.

being allergic to dust and grass

my allergy testSometimes I hate my skin for being so allergic to dust and grass. It hinders me to do what I want to do in the garden or any outdoor activities. Also, I have to change and wash the bedding every now and then. But, I can’t change the mattress every now and then because that would be too costly and such a waste of money.

Good thing I found an allergy mattress covers, which I am currently using. Hehehe! I still have allergies, but it’s not due to dust bugs. This is caused by the grass outside that I tried to lawn four days ago. I hope that it will vanish the soonest. I feel it will leave few scars in my skin. Huhuhu!

happy to buy the window treatment

happy to buy the window treatmentYepey! I am happy very happy that hubby and I were able to buy the blinds we planned and saved for a long time. At first, I thought about purchasing curtains. I am inspired by the curtains Richmond, VA I found in the web. However, as I weigh the benefits I opt for blinds instead. One of the many reasons I have, is the laundry. I don’t like doing laundry that is why I choose blinds as it doesn’t require one. Hehehe! All it takes is a little dusting and it’s perfectly fine.

The only problem we have now is the installation. Hubby can’t do it by himself because of his week old operation. I can’t do it as well because we don’t have a driller. Good thing our landlady gives us a visit. She gave us some tips on its installation. Rather than using a driller, she said we can use concrete nail in creating a hole.

Hmmm, I think I can do it myself. Instead of paying somebody to do it, I will just collect labor for my work. It looks easy as I visualize it. And the instructions are so simple to follow. So, I am positive I can do it. That if hubby will let me. He doesn’t want me to do anything aside from cooking especially manly tasks.

problems arises again

problems arises againI promised myself not to mind any household problems for the sake of Christmas. However, the strong rain last night put me to the test. But, I have to be calm even if there are leaks in the roof. Our landlady says that every leak in this house is already fixed. I believed her, but it’s not true.

According to the previous renters, one of the reasons they left the place even if they are still in the contract is the roofing problem. They don’t want to spend just to fix the roof that is not theirs. We don’t have the choice, but to have it fixed. I’ll just charge the fees to the landlady because we just moved in here for a week or two. Of course, I will let the Christmas and New Year pass by first. The work should start after the holidays. I will just enjoy the time before anything else. I will just pray that it will not rain tomorrow and the week that follows.

Little Ways to Keep Healthy and Happy

LifeStyle, healthy tips, information, thoughts and ideas No Comments »

Little Ways to Keep Healthy and HappyAs most of you notice, self-help books are gaining ground with many segments of the market and that’s mostly because they promise a very easy solution to most problems. Whether it’s financial difficulties or divergences with our life partner, many of these books offer similar answers on all matters. The following four tips for a healthier and happier life do not fall in this categories.

Getting adequate sleep can help you lose weight, fight infections, recall memories and think more clearly. Spending just 30 minutes a day in the sunlight to soak up vitamin D across a broad swath of the country can reduce your risk for a variety of cancers, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and many other diseases. Volunteering to help others can lower your risk for depression and heart disease, raise your self-esteem and happiness and extend your life, according to numerous studies.

Having enough exercise is the one thing that is not mentioned but should also be included. Not only does moderate exercise improve health, but it also acts to boost our mood for at least a few hours after the session is over, as past studies have already shown. Working out also has a social function, in that routines that involve more people can act to bind them together, like it happens with football and other similar sports teams. So, always think healthy guys!
